# Google AI Overviews and restaurants: who gets named

For many searches, such as "best ramen in Leeds" or "restaurants open late near me", Google now shows an AI Overview above the results. It names a few places and summarises why.

## What it draws on

AI Overviews combine Google's local data (Business Profiles, reviews, Maps) with web pages that answer the question, such as guides and articles.

## Why it changes things for restaurants

The map pack still appears, but the AI summary sits above it. A restaurant named in the summary gets attention before the guest ever reaches the map.

## What decides who's named

- A specific, accurate category and complete attributes.
- Reviews that mention the dish or occasion searched for.
- Being listed in the guides and articles Google draws on.
