> AI assistants usually name two to five places. Why the shortlist is so short, and what it means for hospitality businesses.

Ask ChatGPT for restaurants in a neighbourhood and you'll usually get a short list, often three to five, sometimes with a few honourable mentions. Voice assistants often give one or two.

## Why so few

Assistants aim for a useful answer, not an exhaustive one. Longer lists get read less.

## What it means

In a city with hundreds of restaurants, being named for a question is like ranking in the top three on Google, every time.

## The good news

There are many questions. You don't need to win "best restaurant in London"; you need to win the specific questions your guests ask.
