# Can AI read your menu? Why text menus win AI answers

> A menu in a PDF or photo is hard for AI to use. Why a plain text menu helps restaurants get named for dishes, diets and prices.

Diners ask AI about dishes: "best laksa in London", "steak frites in Manchester", "gluten-free pizza near me". AI can only match you if it can read what you serve.

## Common problems

- Menus as photos or scanned PDFs.
- Menus inside apps or ordering systems AI can't reach.
- Seasonal menus that aren't updated, so AI quotes dishes you no longer serve.

## What works

- A menu page in plain text with dish names, short descriptions and prices.
- Dietary labels in words: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free.
- The same menu linked from your Google profile.
- A date or "updated" note for seasonal menus.
