"Where do locals actually eat in Edinburgh?" threads are exactly what AI assistants read when they want an honest answer.

## Why Reddit matters

It's full of first-hand recommendations, and AI companies have content deals and crawling arrangements with it. Its threads often appear in AI citations for local questions.

## What hospitality businesses should do

- **Read the threads about your area.** See which places get recommended and why.
- **Don't fake it.** Posting as a fake customer breaks Reddit's rules and consumer law, and communities spot it quickly.
- **Be worth recommending.** The honest route is making the experience people mention.
- **Answer openly if you take part.** Owners who reply as themselves, helpfully, are usually welcome.
