# AI SEO and agent bookings for independent hotels in Liverpool

## Local rules an agent runs into

**A £2 per room visitor charge.** Since 1 June 2025, hotels and serviced accommodation in the Liverpool Accommodation BID area with a rateable value of £45,000 or more add £2 per occupied room per night. Hotel businesses voted for it in a ballot.

**Not every property charges it.** Smaller properties below the threshold don't. Two places on the same street can quote different totals for the same room price, and only the property's own booking engine knows which applies.

**Total price law.** UK law has required mandatory charges to be in the headline price since April 2025.

## What this means when an agent books in Liverpool

- **Group bookings multiply the charge.** Five rooms for three nights is £30 in visitor charges. An agent booking a stag or family weekend needs it in the total.
- **Match and race days.** On busy dates an agent may check many hotels at once and skip slow or unclear booking flows.
- **Two totals for one room.** If an OTA shows the charge inside its total and the hotel's own site adds it at the end, the agent may see the OTA as the more reliable price.
