Few things cost a restaurant more quietly than an AI assistant telling diners it’s closed.
Where it comes from
- Old listings on directories you’ve forgotten about.
- Temporary closures that were marked on Google and never cleared.
- Holiday hours carried over from a previous year.
- A former business at your address, mixed up with yours.
- Your own website, if it still shows old hours somewhere.
How to trace it
Ask Perplexity, which cites its sources, “Is [restaurant] in [town] open on Mondays?” and look at where the answer comes from. Then check your Google profile, your website and the main directories for your area.
Then check again
AI tools refresh at different speeds. After correcting a source, check again over the next few weeks.
