AI SEO for restaurants in Glasgow

UKUpdated By Akkrev

How ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok choose which restaurants to recommend in Glasgow: what guests ask, the sources AI quotes and how to check.

Glasgow prompts are dominated by gigs and football, and by the West End and Finnieston food scene. This planning guide suggests questions to test about restaurants in Glasgow and sources to inspect. It is not a study of current AI recommendations or search demand.

Example guest questions about restaurants in Glasgow

  • “Best restaurant in Finnieston?”
  • “Where to eat before a gig at the Hydro?”
  • “Good curry in Glasgow’s West End?”

Questions like these usually name a neighbourhood, such as West End, Finnieston and City Centre, or an occasion. Use the area and occasion that fit your venue. These examples are not search-volume data or a substitute for ordinary local SEO.

Local occasions to consider

Consider concerts at the OVO Hydro, Celtic Connections in January, football at Celtic Park, Ibrox and Hampden and university graduations when planning questions about Glasgow. Consider questions about meals before or after an event, walking distance and group size. These are suggested scenarios, not measured prompt volumes.

Sources to check

  • Google Maps and your Business Profile. Keep hours, price level, cuisine, menus and photos current. Check each answer’s sources rather than assuming it read your Google listing.
  • OpenTable, SevenRooms and TripAdvisor. Where AI reads availability and reviews, and where it often sends diners to book.
  • Food guides and press covering Glasgow. Sources like The List, the Herald and Time Out can be useful research leads. Actual citations show whether a sampled answer used them.
  • Reddit and local forums. Where people in Glasgow recommend places to each other, which AI reads and repeats.

Details to make clear

  • Being placed in the right neighbourhood. Diners ask for West End and Finnieston or “near me”. Your Google listing and website need to agree on where you are and what you serve.
  • Correct hours and menus. Wrong opening hours are one of the most common AI mistakes. A diner told you’re closed won’t come.
  • Dishes and occasions in reviews. AI matches restaurants to questions like “best Sunday roast” or “birthday dinner” through what reviews and guides say about them.
  • A booking link AI can find. Publish a clear direct reservation link. An AI recommendation may omit it or link to a third party.

How to check

Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and Claude the questions above, and save the date, model, original answers and cited URLs. Repeat the same questions next week. Answers can change without any website edit. See how our measurements work. Our plans track these questions every week, from £49 a month, and show what to improve.

Questions

How does ChatGPT choose restaurants in Glasgow?

It searches the web and summarises what it finds: Google listings, reviews, booking platforms and food guides such as the Herald and Time Out. Restaurants that are described clearly and often in those sources are the ones it names.

AI shows the wrong opening hours for my restaurant. Why?

It is usually reading an old listing, a third-party site or a cached page. The fix starts with finding which source is wrong; our weekly reports show which sites AI quotes about you.
