Restaurant SEO in 2026: Google, Maps and AI search
Updated By Akkrev
Restaurant SEO now covers three places diners look: Google search, Google Maps and AI assistants. What to focus on in each, in plain terms.
Diners find restaurants in three places now, and they overlap.
1. Google Maps
Still the biggest for “near me”. Your Business Profile is the asset: category, hours, attributes, photos, menu, reviews and replies.
2. Google search
Your website ranks for your name and, with good pages, for dishes and occasions in your area. A fast, mobile-friendly site with your menu in text and clear location details is the base.
3. AI assistants
ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name a few restaurants per question. They draw on Maps data, reviews, guides and your site.
What helps all three
- Accurate, consistent facts everywhere.
- A text menu on your website.
- Reviews that mention dishes and occasions.
- Being in local guides and press.
What to measure
Maps views and calls, search clicks, and how often AI names you for your key questions. The last one is new; our Track plan measures it every week.
