How to get your restaurant recommended by ChatGPT
Updated By Akkrev
A practical guide for restaurant owners: what ChatGPT reads, the facts to get right, and how to get named for the dishes and occasions you're best at.
ChatGPT names a few restaurants for each question. Here’s how to give it reasons to name yours.
1. Decide what you want to be named for
Pick three to five questions you should win: “best Sunday roast in Islington”, “Italian for a birthday in Leith”, “vegan brunch in Hove”. These guide everything else.
2. Make your Google profile complete
- The most specific primary category that fits.
- Correct hours, including holiday hours.
- Attributes: outdoor seating, vegan options, accessibility, dogs, group bookings.
- A menu link and recent photos.
3. Put your menu in text
A PDF or an image of the menu is hard for AI to read. A plain web page with dishes, prices and dietary labels is easy.
4. Say the things diners ask about
On your own site, in plain sentences: the area you’re in, what you’re known for, who you’re good for (groups, dates, kids), how to book.
5. Invite honest guest feedback
Invite genuine guests to share their own experience without scripting the words or filtering out unhappy diners. Reviews can help people assess the restaurant; there is no promised wording or quantity that earns an AI recommendation.
6. Be in the guides AI trusts
Inspect the guides and publications cited in actual saved answers. Relevant editorial coverage may help people discover you, but inclusion does not guarantee that an assistant will name the restaurant.
7. Measure every week
Save the same guest questions, answers and sources each week. Our plans automate sampled API answers and suggest next steps. Grow and Scale add article drafts and supported WordPress publishing. Owners manage their own Google profile, reviews and third-party listings. Use the restaurant checklist to choose practical edits.
Questions
How long does it take?
There is no guaranteed timeline for an AI recommendation. Keep a baseline, correct inaccurate facts and repeat comparable checks. A changed answer alone does not establish that your edits caused it.
Do I need a new website?
Rarely. Most restaurants need clearer facts and better coverage, not a rebuild.
