What is a channel manager?
Updated By Akkrev
A channel manager keeps a hotel's rooms, rates and availability in sync across booking sites like Booking.com and Expedia and the hotel's own booking engine.
A channel manager sends a hotel’s availability, rates and inventory to every place it sells rooms (Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, the hotel’s own booking engine) and pulls bookings back in, so the same room isn’t sold twice.
SiteMinder is the best-known example; many PMS vendors include one.
Channel managers and AI
Because a channel manager already feeds live prices to many outlets, it’s a natural route for feeding AI platforms too. Some distribution companies now pass the same data to AI assistants, for example through MCP connections.
That helps agents find a hotel’s live price. It doesn’t by itself let an agent complete a direct booking, which still happens on the hotel’s booking engine.
Why it matters for AI visibility
A channel manager keeps listings in sync. Consistent listings help AI recognise your business and describe it correctly.
