What are Core Web Vitals, and do they matter for AI agents?
Updated By Akkrev
Core Web Vitals are Google's measures of page loading, responsiveness and visual stability. Slow, jumpy booking pages can trip up AI agents as well as guests.
Core Web Vitals are three measures Google uses to judge real users’ page experience: how quickly the main content loads (Largest Contentful Paint), how quickly the page responds to input (Interaction to Next Paint), and how much the layout jumps around while loading (Cumulative Layout Shift).
Why they matter for agents
- Slow pages cost agents time. In our Agent Booking Index pilot, one hotel’s homepage took around 30 seconds to load before the booking link appeared; agents comparing several hotels may move on.
- Layout shift can make an agent click the wrong thing, for example a pop-up that loads late and lands where the date picker was.
- Slow responses after clicks can make an agent think a button didn’t work.
For hotels
Booking pages are often the slowest on a hotel site, because they load the booking engine’s scripts on top of the website’s own. Measuring the booking path, not just the homepage, gives a truer picture for both guests and agents.
Why it matters for AI visibility
Fast, stable pages are easier for crawlers to load and read, which helps AI learn from your site.
