Your Google Business Profile is now an AI asset
Updated By Akkrev
Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode lean on Google Business Profiles. The fields that matter most for hotels, restaurants and cafés.
For local questions, Google’s AI features start with Business Profiles. Other assistants read them too, through search results.
The fields that matter most
- Primary category. Be as specific as you can: “Seafood restaurant”, “Boutique hotel”, “Coffee shop”.
- Secondary categories. Add what else you are: “Brunch restaurant”, “Bar”.
- Hours and special hours. Including bank and public holidays.
- Attributes. Dog-friendly, outdoor seating, Wi-Fi, accessibility, vegan options, reservations.
- Description. Plain sentences about what you are and who you’re for.
- Photos. Recent, real and labelled.
- Menu or room details. Linked or added.
- Reviews and replies.
Common problems
Duplicate listings, an old address, a wrong category or a “temporarily closed” status left on. Each can drop you from AI answers.
