AI booking audit vs GEO audit: what's the difference?
Updated By Akkrev
A GEO audit checks whether AI mentions your hotel. An AI booking audit checks whether an AI agent can actually book it on your own site. Here's when each fits.
Both audits start from the same worry: guests now plan trips with AI. They answer different questions.
A GEO audit asks: does AI mention us?
A generative engine optimisation audit runs prompts through ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and others and measures how often a business appears, how it’s described, which sources are cited and how it compares with competitors. Typical deliverables are a visibility score, a share-of-voice chart and a content plan. Generic GEO agencies charge roughly $2,000 to $4,500 for a one-off audit, and several free tools now give a basic visibility scan for hotels.
An AI booking audit asks: can an agent book us?
An AI booking audit sends real AI agents to the hotel’s own website with a booking task, such as “two nights for two adults from the 14th, stop before paying”, and records what happens: did it reach a priced room, how long did it take, did it get the total and policies right, and what blocked it. It also checks what AI says about the hotel, because wrong facts lead to wrong bookings.

Which one does a hotel need?
If guests can’t find you in AI answers at all, visibility comes first. But for most independent hotels the bigger leak is at the booking stage: the agent finds the hotel, can’t get through its booking engine and books an OTA instead. That loss is invisible to a visibility score.
Where AI visibility fits
Since October 2026 Akkrev offers both: monthly AI visibility plans that track and improve how often AI recommends you, and agent booking work for hotels. Most hotels start with visibility, because an agent can only book a hotel the assistant chose first.
How to check where you stand
Ask an agent to book your hotel on your own site and stop before paying. If it books elsewhere or gets stuck, start with the booking. Our free agent check does this for you.
