What are Google AI Overviews?
Updated By Akkrev
AI Overviews are AI-written summaries at the top of some Google search results, with links to sources. They can name hotels and answer questions about them.
AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google shows above regular results for some searches, built with Gemini and linked to the pages they draw on.
In October 2026 Google added more inline links inside AI Overviews and AI Mode, and a section at the top for official sites when only a few sites offer a task or fact. For a hotel, that means a clear, accurate page on its own site has a better chance of being the link shown.
AI Overviews and hotels
A guest searching “dog-friendly hotels in the Peak District with parking” may get an AI Overview naming a few places before any regular results. Being named depends on Google understanding the hotel’s facts. Turning that into a booking still depends on the guest, or their agent, getting through the booking page.
Why it matters for AI visibility
AI Overviews name a few businesses for local questions. Your Google profile, reviews and site content all feed what they say.
