What is a central reservation system (CRS)?
Updated By Akkrev
A central reservation system (CRS) manages rates and bookings across hotels or channels in one place. It's common in groups and behind many engines.
A central reservation system (CRS) holds a hotel’s or hotel group’s rates, availability and booking rules in one place and distributes them to the website, call centre, travel agents and other channels. SynXis is a well-known example.
For a single independent hotel, the PMS, channel manager and booking engine often cover what a CRS does. Groups and larger independents tend to use a CRS on top.
Why it matters for AI
Large CRS platforms connect to many distribution partners, including some that now feed AI assistants. Hotels on these systems may get AI distribution through their vendor. Smaller hotels usually rely on agents operating their website, which makes an agent-friendly booking flow the deciding factor.
Why it matters for AI visibility
A CRS keeps rates consistent across channels. Consistent facts everywhere are also what AI needs to recommend you confidently.
