What is schema.org Hotel markup?
Updated By Akkrev
schema.org Hotel markup is structured data describing a hotel's name, address, amenities and check-in times in a format search engines and AI read.
schema.org is the shared vocabulary that Google, Microsoft and others use for structured data. It includes types for lodging businesses: Hotel, BedAndBreakfast, Motel, Resort, Hostel, VacationRental and the general LodgingBusiness, plus related types such as HotelRoom and Offer.
What it can describe
Name, address and phone, star rating, amenities (parking, pets, accessibility, spa), check-in and check-out times, number of rooms, and links to the booking page. Room and offer types can describe bed types, occupancy and prices.
Why AI cares
An AI agent comparing ten hotels has to extract the same facts from ten different layouts. Markup states them directly, which reduces errors like “free parking” when parking costs £18.
Its limits
Markup describes; it doesn’t take bookings. If the booking engine behind the “Book now” link blocks agents, good markup just helps the agent understand exactly which hotel it couldn’t book.
Why it matters for AI visibility
Hotel structured data gives AI clear, machine-readable facts about your rooms, location and amenities.
