Can AI agents book hotels that use Mews?
Updated By Akkrev
Mews is a cloud PMS with its own booking engine. In our pilot, 1 of 3 Mews hotels passed; on two, the interactive date picker kept agents from prices.
Agent Booking Index pilot, 20 October 2026
1 of 3 hotels passed
2 partial, 0 failed. Average score 7.3 out of 12.
One Mews hotel passed. On the other two, the booking engine loaded quickly but needed its interactive date picker, and prices were not reached in the time allowed. On the hotel that passed, dates were prefilled but needed extra clicks, and prices showed in US dollars by default.
Pilot: independent UK hotels, tested with a scripted browser that reads pages as text, not a named consumer agent. Small samples, so treat this as directional. Method and limits.
Mews is a cloud hospitality platform founded in Prague in 2012. Its products include Mews Operations, a property management system, Mews Payments, and the Mews Booking Engine, formerly called Distributor. Hotels can use the booking engine as a standalone page hosted by Mews, as a widget embedded in their own website, or through an API to build their own.
Mews is popular with design-led city hotels and groups that want a modern, cloud-first stack, in the UK, Europe and increasingly the US.
What the pilot found
Three Mews hotels were in our 20 October pilot. One passed and two were partial, averaging 7.3 out of 12, the lowest of the engines with more than one hotel tested.
- On two hotels, the booking links went straight to the Mews booking engine, which loaded quickly. But to see prices, the agent had to complete an interactive date picker. Dates were selected on one hotel and availability appeared, but prices stayed one click away when the run ended.
- On the third hotel, dates passed in the web address were prefilled but still needed a ‘Next’ click after accepting cookies, and prices then appeared, in US dollars by default for a UK hotel.
What this means
The engine itself was reachable and fast. The friction was in how dates are entered and how many steps stand between landing and a price. A visual agent that clicks through calendars, such as those built into browsers, may do better than our text-reading pilot did; that’s what the next round will test.
What to check if your hotel uses Mews
- Which integration do you use: the standalone page, the widget or your own build on the API?
- From your homepage, how many clicks does it take to see a price for two given nights?
- Which currency does your booking engine show to an overseas visitor?
What this means for AI recommendations
Mews hotels tend to have modern sites. Make sure room and price details are readable as text so AI can describe you accurately.
Questions
What was Mews Distributor?
It's the former name of the Mews Booking Engine, which lets guests book directly into Mews Operations, the Mews property management system.
Why do date pickers matter for AI agents?
A text-reading agent works best when it can set dates directly. A calendar that needs a sequence of clicks gives it more chances to fail before it sees a price.
