Can AI agents book B&Bs and guesthouses that use Freetobook?
UKUpdated By Akkrev
Freetobook, based in Glasgow, runs online booking for 10,000+ hotels, B&Bs and rentals. Not yet tested in the Agent Booking Index; here's what to check.
Freetobook is an online booking system for accommodation businesses, based in Glasgow. It provides booking management, a channel manager, payments, guest messaging, reputation tools and dynamic pricing, and says it serves more than 10,000 hotels, B&Bs and rentals. It’s aimed at hotels, B&Bs, self-catering, hostels and glamping, and pitches itself to new owners with “no tie-in contracts”.
That customer base is the heart of the UK’s small independent accommodation: the Highland guesthouse, the Cotswolds B&B, the seaside self-catering flat.
Status in the Agent Booking Index
Not yet tested. No Freetobook properties were in the 20 October pilot. Because so many small UK properties use it, it’s a priority for the next round.
Why small UK properties are a special case
Many small properties combine an online booking engine with older habits: deposits by bank transfer, “call for single nights”, minimum stays in peak season, or rooms only bookable by email. Those habits may stop an agent even when the booking engine itself works. See Do AI agents pay B&B deposits? and changeover days and minimum stays.
What to check if your property uses Freetobook
- Is your booking calendar embedded in your website or on its own page?
- Can a guest, or an agent, get from your homepage to a price for two named nights?
- Are any rooms or stays phone or email only?
- Does every room say whether it’s en suite?
What this means for AI recommendations
Freetobook is common among UK B&Bs and guesthouses. AI recommends these places based on Google, reviews and the property’s own site, so those matter more than the engine.
