Can AI agents book hotels that use SiteMinder?
Updated By Akkrev
SiteMinder serves over 56,000 hoteliers with its channel manager and booking engine. In our small pilot, both SiteMinder hotels showed agents readable prices.

2 of 2 hotels passed
0 partial, 0 failed. Average score 10.0 out of 12.
Both SiteMinder hotels reached a room list with prices shown as plain text. Both pages carried a passive reCAPTCHA badge, but no challenge appeared. Two hotels is a very small sample.
Pilot: independent UK hotels, tested with a scripted browser that reads pages as text, not a named consumer agent. Small samples, so treat this as directional. Method and limits.
SiteMinder is best known for its channel manager, which connects hotels to hundreds of booking channels, and it also sells a hotel booking engine, a website builder, payments and metasearch tools. SiteMinder says more than 56,000 hoteliers use its platform and that it has processed over 140 million reservations.
Because so many independent hotels use SiteMinder for distribution, its booking engine is a common last step when an agent tries to book direct.
What the pilot found
Two SiteMinder hotels were in our 20 October pilot, and both passed, averaging 10.0 out of 12:
- The booking engine honoured dates passed in the web address.
- Room names and prices appeared as plain text, for example a single price per night for the requested date.
- Both pages showed a passive reCAPTCHA badge. No challenge appeared, so the agent wasn’t stopped, but we scored it as a small amount of friction.
One hotel lost points for a homepage that took around 30 seconds to load, which is about the website, not the engine. Two hotels is too few to say anything general about SiteMinder; this page will be updated as more are tested.
SiteMinder and AI distribution
SiteMinder works with distribution partners that connect hotel rates to AI assistants. DirectBooker, for example, lists SiteMinder among the technology providers it works with. That helps an AI show a hotel’s live price; the guest or agent still completes the booking on the hotel’s engine.
What to check if your hotel uses SiteMinder
- Does the booking page show a CAPTCHA challenge to visitors that look automated, or only a badge?
- How long does your homepage take to load before the booking link appears?
- Are prices shown for the guest’s dates as text, including any mandatory charges?
What this means for AI recommendations
SiteMinder’s booking engine sits on many independent hotel sites. AI recommendations depend on the content around it as much as the engine itself.
Questions
Is Little Hotelier the same as SiteMinder?
Little Hotelier is SiteMinder's all-in-one product for small properties. It has its own page in the Agent Booking Index.
Does a reCAPTCHA badge stop AI agents?
Not by itself. A badge means a CAPTCHA service is running in the background; agents are stopped only if it shows a challenge. In our pilot, no challenge appeared on SiteMinder pages.
