Can Meta's Muse book your hotel?
USUpdated By Akkrev
Meta's Muse launched in the US in September 2026 and books hotels by browsing sites like Expedia. What that means for independent hotels.
Meta’s Muse is a general-purpose personal agent that launched first in the US in September 2026, on iOS, Android, the web and WhatsApp. It can send emails, fill out forms, make purchases and book travel, and keeps working after the user closes the app. Meta reports 3.6 billion daily users across its apps, which is why hotels are paying attention.
How Muse books hotels today
According to Skift, Muse books flights through a direct connection to Duffel, but books hotels by using a browser on consumer travel sites such as Expedia and Hotels.com, much as a person would. In Skift’s test, Muse suggested a New York hotel based on published prices.
That has two implications for independent hotels:
- Muse shops the web. Any hotel website it can operate is, in principle, bookable by Muse.
- Right now, its default hotel route is online travel agencies. Direct bookings happen only when the hotel’s own site is an easier or better option.
Payments and approval
Muse pays through Link by Stripe, which issues one-time cards so sites never see the user’s real card. Sensitive actions such as purchases can require the user’s explicit approval.
The Cloudbeds integration
In October 2026, Cloudbeds announced an integration with Muse. Participating Cloudbeds hotels’ live rates, availability and policies will be visible to Muse, and guests will complete reservations through each hotel’s own Cloudbeds booking engine, landing as direct bookings. US rollout to Cloudbeds customers is planned for the first quarter of 2027. See what the Cloudbeds and Muse deal means.
What Muse’s browser sees on your site
Because Muse browses hotel sites like a person, it meets the same obstacles: cookie banners, pop-ups, booking widgets, member-only rates and fees that appear late. The difference is patience. A person might persist through a clumsy booking flow for a hotel they love. Muse will compare that effort with the same hotel on Expedia or Hotels.com, where it already knows the checkout.
Scale changes the stakes
Meta’s apps reach billions of people, and Muse runs inside WhatsApp, which many guests already use to message hotels. Even a small share of those users handing hotel bookings to Muse would mean a lot of agent traffic. Where that traffic lands, OTA or direct, depends on what Muse finds when it tries your site.
What independent hotels should do now
Find out whether a browser-based agent can book your site today, because that’s how Muse and agents like it reach hotels without integrations. Ask an agent to book two nights on your own website and stop before paying, or get our free agent check.
What this means for AI recommendations
Meta’s Muse draws on the open web and Meta’s own platforms. Your Facebook and Instagram presence, reviews and website all feed what it knows. Hotels with consistent facts across those sources are easier for Muse to recommend.
